LONDON: Television presenter and communications and public relations expert Sidra Iqbal became the first Pakistani to represent her country on the panel of judges of the annual public speaking competition organised by the English Speaking Union. Iqbal, a former winner at the competition in 1999, was part of a three-member panel at the competition that was attended by 82 participants from 45 countries. Meanwhile, Ahmed Nawaz represented Pakistan in the public speaking competition and managed to reach the semi-finals where he spoke on conservation of natural resources for future generations. The year 2011 marked the 30th anniversary of the ESU International Public Speaking Competition which started in 1981 between Australia and England and Wales.
