Central committee of BNP-A stands dissolved

Decision taken after discord among party leaders over parliamentary leadership role

QUETTA: In a surprising turn of events on Sunday, Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A) Acting President Syed Ahsan Shah used his powers to dissolve the party’s central committee, calling party’s council session next year.
The internal rift took place following a heated debate between Shah and another party MPA Asad Baloch over parliamentary leadership’s role in the provincial assembly on Saturday.
BNP-A President Israr Zehri is out of the country.



“Of the 41 members of the central committee, 25 support us. The party can’t be run by one man. During the central committee meeting we decided to suspend memberships of all members,” Shah said while addressing a news conference on Sunday.
He said the party’s council session had been called in the mid of 2019.
On coalition support to the Balochistan Awami Party in the provincial assembly, Shah said, “I was the one who announced support for BAP’s government in Balochistan after the party announced me as the parliamentary leader.



“The misunderstanding with Asad Baloch will be sorted out in the party’s meeting; therefore, we have decided to clear our position on a higher forum.”
On 2018 general elections, the BNP-A leader said, “This year’s elections were better as compared with the 2013’s, but we have rigging complaints as our mandate was stolen.
“The election results in Kech, Panjgur and Awaran were deliberately delayed and the reason was said to be unavailability of Form 45. Our party has decided to raise our concern at all available forums.”
