After a ceremony to sign the agreement, PHEC chairperson said this programme was meant to provide higher learning and research facilities at par with international standards to the faculty of colleges and universities.

“The UoE will administer the programme with full financial support from the PHEC so that faculty members from public sector colleges and universities will be able to compete for this scholarship,” the chairperson explained.

Dr Nizam said the PHEC would help UoE bring foreign faculty from top universities of the world to deliver intensive research training to the scholars. “The scholars will have foreign expertise available for their dissertation and will also be able to conduct research with international experts in foreign universities during their PhD programme,” he said. PHEC would also extend travel grants and research grants to the selected scholars under this scheme, he added.

While appreciating the initiative, UoE Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam said the programme would help strengthen international academic collaboration with foreign universities.

He said the scholarship programme would benefit outstanding faculty members who were interested in pursuing quality higher education.
