RAWALPINDI: A five-day anti-polio campaign kicked off in the entire district on Monday to vaccinate more than 840,000 children below five years of age against the crippling disease.
Anti-polio drive in-charge District Health Authority CEO Chaudary Muhammad Hussain informed that 2,787 polio teams including 2,333 mobile teams, 287 fixed points, 119 transit points, 221 union council medical officers and 496 area in-charges are participating in the drive.
During the campaign, he said, over 290,000 children have been so far administered polio vaccines on first day while 840,000 children, the set target of the campaign, would be achieved by August 10. Hussain advised parents to ensure vaccination of their children against polio so as to eliminate the disease.
He said workers deployed for the campaign have been instructed that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.
