Man shot dead for resisting robbery

Amjad and his friend were on their way to work when they were intercepted

FAISALABAD: A man was gunned down by armed bandits during a robbery attempt in Faisalabad on Sunday.

Two shot dead over enmity

An official from Rodala police station said that Amjad Farooq, a resident of Chak No 356-GB, and his friend Muhammad Ashfaq were on their way to work when four armed bandits intercepted them near Chak No 54-JB and tried to snatch money and other valuables.

He added that when Amjad showed resistance, the outlaws opened fire on them. As a result, Amjad Farooq died on the spot while his friend sustained bullet injuries. The injured was shifted to Allied Hospital in critical condition.

Police have registered a case against the accused and have started investigations.

In another incident, a girl died when the roof of a house in Garden Mohalla caved in.

Police said that Javaid and his family were in the house when the under-construction roof collapsed.

As a result, Javaid’s daughter Iqra was killed on the spot, while his wife and sons Ejaz and Wahab, were injured. They were shifted to the hospital by Rescue 1122.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested nine shopkeepers from various parts of the district for decanting gas illegally.

Six labourers shot dead in Balochistan

Police said that the accused included Ehteshamul Haq, Ghulam Fareed, Muzammal, Shafqat Rasool, Khadim Hussain and others.
