
Clothes, balloons, buntings and badges in the colour of the flag are selling like hot cakes in big and small markets. Dozens of vendors have set up shop along roadsides, selling products in the colours of the national flag.

Abuzz with national fervour, citizens throng to markets to survey and purchase the colourful and quirky offerings that vendors have to offer. People of all ages are indulging in buying flags and patriotic clothing.
Anticipating the demand of such items, vendors started selling Independence Day merchandise as soon as August began. Special stalls have been set up in many markets across the provincial capital including Anarkali Bazaar, Shah Alam Market, Ichra Bazaar, Baghbanpura Bazaar, Moon Market in Allama Iqbal Town and Urdu Bazaar in Lahore.
Ferozpur Road Trader’s Association General Secretary Azhar Malik stated that August 14 always brings a large influx of business to markets.

“People, especially children, can be seen buying stickers, caps badges and flags for Independence Day,” he said.
Responding to a question about security, Malik revealed that police have deployed security personnel in markets.
