LPG price rises by Rs7 per kg

The price rise came after a notification issued by OGRA about revised rates of the commodity

ISLAMABAD: Marketing companies have increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs7 per kg following a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) about revised rates of the commodity. All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar, in a statement, said the LPG consumer price had gone up by Rs7 per kg, which would cause a price surge of Rs86 in domestic cylinder and Rs329 in commercial cylinder. He said one kg of LPG would be available at Rs133, domestic cylinder at Rs1,565 and commercial cylinder at Rs6,021 throughout Pakistan. Criticising the increase, Khokhar argued that 75% of domestically produced LPG was being sold at imported prices, which was not justified. Domestic production has increased to 75,000 tons per month, up almost 54% from 34,000 tons in 2014.
