PESHAWAR: Popular Pashto stage singer and actor Resham was gunned down allegedly by her husband in the Nowshera Kalan area of Nowshera on Wednesday. Police said that the murder was apparently the result of a domestic dispute.
A police officer told The Express Tribune that Obaidullah, the brother of the victim, had filed a complaint with the with the Nowshera Kalan police stating in that his brother-in-law used to work abroad and had only recently returned to the country.
“On his return to Pakistan he told Resham that his father was ill and that they should go to see him to which Resham agreed.”

He added that when he did not hear from the couple for a long time, he inquired about their whereabouts.
He then decided to visit Resham’s residence and inquire if everything was alright.
When he entered the house, he found his sister Resham lying in a pool of blood.
“Fayad had killed her in cold blood and fled after committing the crime,” he claimed in the FIR.
Based on Obaidullahs’ complaint, the Nowshera Kalan Police registered a case and are investigating.
