FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) has expressed hope that the new government would focus on export-oriented policies and lead the country towards economic prosperity.

Congratulating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on his success in the general elections, PTEA Chairman Mian Shaiq Jawed urged the upcoming government to allot top priority to boosting the country’s economy.

Value addition necessary to boost trade

“Conducive policies are imperative for immediate revival and uplift of the economy,” he said. “Industrial hopes are high and country is in dire need of serious and talented leadership that can address the challenges and trigger long-term economic revival.”

Reposing full confidence in the new leadership, he expressed hope that the PTI government would gather a team of economic experts from all sectors to formulate business-friendly policies and bring reforms.

Enhancing ties: UK committed to increasing bilateral trade with Pakistan

He urged PTI to evolve a comprehensive strategy to tackle the issues being faced by the industry. “Due to poor business conditions during the last decade, sizable textile capacity has reduced,” he lamented. “In absence of any mechanism for rehabilitation, investment of billions of rupees is turning into scrap.”
