Two minors drown in Lyari River

Sagar and Shan had gone out to play when they fell in water

KARACHI: Two minors drowned on Tuesday in the Lyari River in Surjani Town while they were playing.

The incident took place in Yawer Goth within the limits of the Surjani Town police station. The deceased children, 12-year-old Sagar, son of Jewan, and 10-year-old Shan, were neighbours and had gone outside to play as per routine. According to the family and rescuers, the children accidentally drowned while playing.

Upon receiving the information, rescuers from various welfare organisations reached the site and started a search for the bodies. However, they were only able to retrieve Sagar's body. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where the family took it away without allowing medico-legal formalities.
