Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ayaz Sadiq said his party regrets handing over autonomous powers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Express News reported.

The former speaker of the National Assembly had accompanied a delegation of the party to meet the chief election commissioner (CEC) Muhammad Raza Khan to convey the opposition's reservations on the conduct of the elections.
Subsequently, Sadiq spoke to the media wherein he said, "I called him [Raza Khan] and implored him to meet the delegation, but now that we're here, he is unavailable," Sadiq said. These, he alleged, are deliberate delaying tactics by the ECP.

"We've come here to ask for him to step down," the PML-N leader revealed. "We have filed a request for the recount of the votes cast in NA-57 and the returning officer's decision to be declared null and void".
Later, the ECP spokesperson hit back, saying the ECP chief had waited to meet Sadiq, but the latter failed to appear and the electoral body's chief left.
"Sadiq wanted to set up a meeting with the entire ECP board," he said and added, " we conveyed to him that it was not possible but he could meet the top electoral body's chief instead".
