MULTAN: In the wake of Hanif Abbasi’s conviction, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has called his voters for support saying “your vote for him will prove his innocence.”

On Sunday, Shehbaz was addressing a procession at Physio College Kayanpur, Askari bypass Multan.

Your vote on July 25 will set free all the leaders of PML-N languishing in jail now, he stressed.

Before quoting his party performance PML-N president raised the ephedrine case verdict.

He said the court had given the date of August to announce the verdict of Abbasi but announced it at midnight (11pm).

Never in the history of the world has any court announced its verdict at midnight, claimed Shehbaz.

Moreover, he criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan for not giving any date to Abbasi and opting discriminatory attitude towards PML-N.

Shehbaz took a jibe at Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid (the other candidate in NA-60).

He [Sheikh Rashid] knew it that now he would be defeated with the lead of 70,000 votes and thus he has taken the support of the court, said Shehbaz.

Voicing to the previous claims from the party, Shehbaz said “We are being pushed to the wall but we’ll break this wall and emerge victorious.”

He said that elections are only three days away and provincial government and courts have not stopped pre-poll rigging.

Shehbaz vows to make Pakistan better than India

If this election rigging is not stopped, I would not stop people who will rise against these tactics, I would go to any extent even at the cost of my life, he added.

Moreover, he said that Haneef Abbasi has established playgrounds and gyms in the whole Punjab to promote sports and played a constructive role in the development of Pakistan.

Shehbaz said that father and daughter (Nawaz and Maryam) were given mental torture by arresting in front of each other.

Shehbaz kept criticising the arrest of Sharif that he is the foundation of all development in Pakistan.

Shehbaz further said that Turkish president has called him and prayed for the redemption of Maryam and Sharif.

Taking a jibe at Imran Khan, he said that Khan has alleged that I have taken bribe, and I have challenged him 1000 times to prove his allegation.

He said that if an iota of corruption in Multan Metro Bus project proves against him, he would leave politics.

He said that all seats were empty when Imran Khan came to Multan for the procession and when asked about the empty seats, Khan excused that people did not come because of hot weather. Come and witness the huge gathering of Multanites, said Shehbaz.

He said that elections are only three days away and provincial government and courts have not stopped pre-poll election rigging.

"If this election rigging is not stopped, I would not stop people who will rise against these tactics, I would go to any extent even at the cost of my life," he added.

He said that PML-N has established four universities in Multan and six in Bahawalpur.

He announced that after winning elections "he would start Metro Bus Project in Bahawalpur also".

PML-N local candidates Ali Khokar, Asif Rajwana, Zafar Raan, Mian Amir Saeed Ansari, Haji Ahsannudin Waheed Arayin and others were also present on the occasion.

ASAD HASAN | 5 years ago | Reply Regardless of the timing of the verdict of the case, which I agree, seems too much of a coincidence, being so near election date; our leaders/Party Chief Whips should themselves take their members to task who indulge in such illegal activities. Alas, if they don't and keep on harping on the "“your vote for him will prove his innocence.” mantra; then our beloved country will continue to suffer, whatever the result of the elections.
