The caretaker government, after approval of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), transferred all the acting CEOs of the DEA of the department. According to a notification issued by the SED secretary, all the incumbents have been relieved of their charge and posted to new assignments in another district. The SED has transferred the CEOs of all 36 districts of the province.

According to a notification to this effect, the CEOs had been relieved of their present charge with immediate effect. The notification also directed officials to join their new places of posting within 24 hours or earlier.
The SED is one of the departments providing the maximum number of officials for the upcoming elections. Most of the polling stations in the province are also established at government schools. Apart from the staff assigned the elections duties, the department was asked to provide 30 percent additional staff which would serve as reserve staff to overcome any shortage on Election Day.

For the preparations of the elections, the department had earlier instructed CEOs to ensure provision of facilities such as drinking water and toilets. The instructions were sent in a letter written to the CEOs in all the 36 districts of the province.
“I am directed to request you to ensure provision of all necessary facilities for instance functional washrooms, water, electricity and furniture at all the schools which have been notified as polling stations for Elections 2018.” The letter further said facilities should be available even after the end of polling time.
