Just a few days ago, supermodel Nadia Hussain took to Instagram to promote women empowerment. She did so by posting a photo of herself with zero makeup, hoping to create a healthy body image for her fans across Pakistan.

Inspired by American model Cindy Crawford, Nadia accompanied her picture with a hard-hitting caption. "Social media is a powerful tool where you're in charge of what, when, where and how you want to present yourself to the world. And of course, everyone wants to present perfection - who doesn't love a good filter?" she wrote.

"But why do we think that posting our authentic, real self is somehow not lovable enough? It’s time to wake up. Your true you is the bomb."

Nadia then stated that she posted the picture in favour of the #WokeUpThisWayChallenge to bring some reality back to social media. The entrepreneur also requested other local celebrities to promote the cause and share their bare faces as well, nominating Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane and Ayesha Omar to take the challenge.

While the three leading ladies are yet to respond to Nadia's request, other women from the showbiz industry have taken up the challenge. Sahiba Afzal, wife of actor Afzal Khan (known as Jan Rambo) was one of the first people to accept the challenge.

"Since no one accepted your dare, I decided to step in," she said, posting a no-makeup picture of herself.

Humaima Malick's sister Dua wasn't one to shy away from the challenge either. The mother-of-two shared, "If there was a video challenge of how I woke up, you would have seen me waking up to the horn of the garbage collector, how I rush to tell my maid to hand over the trash to him and how I wake up to the noise of my kids asking for breakfast."

The star confessed, "Yes, we all have acne scars, dark circles, blackheads, facial hair and what not. That's life. We don't want to sleep with Photoshop."

While the big guns of the industry still haven't taken up the challenge, Nadia's efforts to highlight the true concept of beauty deserves applause. She has been in the industry for about 10 years and made her name amongst the top models of Pakistan. More power to you!
