KARACHI: The second day of the two-day "Express Education and Career Expo 2018", held at the Karachi Expo Centre, saw a large turnout of students wishing to receive guidance on how to pursue their higher education and career goals. The exhibition is part of the Express Media Group's education initiative and has been held regularly for the past several years.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between aspiring students and institutes of higher learning across the country. During the two days, counselors from various varsities and institutions offered guidance to students on how to address issues they faced in receiving higher education, besides assisting them in recognising the career options best suited to them as they embarked on the new phase of their lives.
Hundreds of youth, both male and female, thronged the stalls, set up by public and private institutions from across the country, for information that would help them further their career goals. These included varsities and colleges such as Iqra University, Hamdard University, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, PAF Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, DHA Suffa University, Virtual University, Usman Institute of Technology, Tabani's School of Accountancy and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan, among others. Several study recruitment agencies, such as the Mcgovern Education Group Pakistan, ABN Overseas Education and the North Pole International Private Limited, also featured in the list. The administrative and managerial staff of these institutions appreciated the initiative by the Express Media Group and expressed the hope that the tradition of holding such events would continue in the future.

Besides these stalls, various competitions were organised for participants to showcase their skills. On Saturday, students partook in face painting, theatre and speech competitions, while the second day featured a fashion show, comedy and singing competitions. Winners and runners-up were awarded gifts and shields.
The initiative received an overwhelming response from students as well as their parents, who appreciated the fact that all information relating to higher education such as courses and programmes offered, scholarship opportunities and career guidance, was available under one roof.
