LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif said that he did not endorse confrontation among the state institutions and firmly believed that only a collective effort on their part could guarantee prosperity and development in the country.

The former Punjab CM while talking to a private news channel said that the PML-N government served the masses day and night and initiated mega power projects such as China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has no parallel example in the seventy years of Pakistan.

Shehbaz said that Imran only made false claims about improving the education and health sectors but did nothing in that regard. He said that Imran had ridiculed the Metro Bus by calling it ‘Jangla Bus’ and also gave wrong statistics about it besides severely criticizing it but in the end, himself condescended to undertake the project.

He said that the impression of him having differences with Nawaz Sharif was not true. “I have unwavering commitment to serving the masses and did not feel that Nawaz Sharif Sharif thought differently,” he added. Shehbaz said that the nation and vote should be given due respect and added that respect for the vote was dependent on development in the country.

The former Punjab CM said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) did not carry out development projects in the country during its government.  “PML-N had served the masses and it was on the basis of that performance it was seeking the franchise of the people again,” he added.

Shehbaz said that Imran Khan practised the politics of falsehood.  “Imran is the leader of a party and aspiring to become prime minister of the country,” he said adding “he should refrain from politics of blame game.” He said that if Imran wants to move forward then he would have to abandon the politics of allegations.

Shehbaz said that Imran only made false claims about improving the education and health sectors but did nothing in that regard. He said that Imran had ridiculed the Metro Bus by calling it ‘Jangla Bus’ and also gave wrong statistics about it besides severely criticizing it but in the end, he himself copied the project in Peshawar.

He said that the country and the nation were passing through a critical phase of its history. Shehbaz observed that India had gone far ahead in the industrial development, particularly in the domain of information technology (IT) with foreign exchange reserves more than Pakistan.

Shehbaz said that India was earning $60 billion through the export of its IT products whereas Pakistan was netting even less than $2 billion. He said that Pakistan had to win the economic war against India through the elimination of poverty in the country.

Shehbaz said that he was contesting elections from Swat and Karachi. “When a reporter pronounced Karachi as ‘Karanchi’, out of love for the cosmopolitan city, I had said that the PML-N would develop Karachi and not ‘Karanchi’ like Lahore,” he added. He reiterated that he in no way had ridiculed the brethren of Karachi. The PML-N president said that the problem of pronunciation even existed in the walled city of Lahore.

Marriyum Aurangzeb rejects news of boycotting elections

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb denounced the news about PML-N boycotting the upcoming general elections.

Addressing the media after the inauguration of the party’s electoral office in NA-127, she said that the party had no intention to pull out from the polls. “The party manifesto would be launched on July 5 and PML-N would unfurl its plan of action for the future development of the country in it based on the performance of the party,” she added.

Former members of the National Assembly Khawaja Imran Nazir, Haji Shahbaz and Bao Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

She said that they were launching the electoral campaign of Maryam Nawaz in the constituency who was in London and her return was dependent on the improvement of the health of her mother. “Maryam wanted to run her election campaign herself,” she said adding “people would never vote for the elements who have indulged in politics of hurling allegations.”

She said that PML-N was competing with those who practiced politics of allegations and the people would surely give their verdict in its favour.

With regards to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, she said that he was crying hoarse during his election campaign and even today was waiting for the raised finger of the umpire. “Those who changed loyalties were not faithful to anybody,” she added.

The spokesperson said that the one party has been subject to political vendetta for the last two and a half years.

She said that Nawaz Sharif ended load-shedding from the country and the PML-N government added 10,000-11,000 MW of electricity to the system whereas Imran Khan could manage only 74 MW. She said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission was locked for the last four years.

PML-N would not boycott the elections but rather would participate in them with full force,” she said adding “only those boycotted the elections who did not have any performance at their credit.”

The spokesperson said that PML-N was not a ‘darling’ like Imran Khan who was even left off for attacking the parliament and the PTV headquarters. She claimed that Pakistan will change after July 25 as the voters will choose on the basis of performance.
