Adjourns proceedings against PTI chief Rind’s disqualification till Monday

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Saturday reserved its judgment on 41 applications filed by the election candidates disqualified by the appellate tribunals.

The judgment was reserved by the BHC’s division bench, comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Nazeer Langove.

The disqualified candidates included Nawab Aali Bugti, former senator Muhabbat Khan Marri, MMA’s Maulana Hanif, Yasmeen Lehri, Babu Amin Umrani, Bahram Khan Achakzai, Taj Raisani and Sher Muhammad Shahwani among others.

During Saturday’s hearing, Aali Bugti flanked by his lawyers Behlul Kasi Advocate and Nusrat Baloch Advocate appeared before the court, while his opponent from PB-10 Dera Bugti, former home minister Sarfraz Bugti, who filed the application against Aali Bugti’s nomination, was also present in the court.

The court told Bugti to share his reservations over Aali Bugti’s nomination in order to make it a part of the judgment. After hearing the arguments of lawyers of Aali Bugti and Sarfraz Bugti, the court reserved its judgment.

The returning officer in Dera Bugti had rejected Aali Bugti’s nomination papers for not disclosing his assets. Sarfraz Bugti had approached the appellate tribunal against Aali Bugti’s non-disclosure of assets.

Election chief on BHC notice over hiring ban

Meanwhile, hearing the disqualification petition of former senator Muhabat Khan Marri over his fake degree issue, the court stated, “Mr Marri had been disqualified from the Senate and in the 2013 general elections due to his fake degree.”

The court cited lifetime disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and told the applicant about the Election Commission of Pakistan’s rule against candidates possessing fake degrees.
The court reserved its judgment on Marri’s application.

BHC orders home minister to put affairs in order

In a separate hearing filed against the acceptance of nomination papers of former senator Sanaullah Baloch, his lawyer Saleem Lashari appeared before the bench and requested for more time.

The court accepted his extra time application and adjourned the hearing till July 2 (tomorrow).

After hearing the petition submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial chief Yar Muhammad Rind against his disqualification by the appellate tribunal, the court adjourned the proceedings till July 2.
