SARGODHA: Compiling years of scientific progress into a short review article is not easy and it requires good understanding of the literature and implications of the discoveries made thus far.

These views were expressed by Office of the Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) Director Dr Farooq Anwar while addressing an interactive workshop on technical and patent writing at University of Sargodha (UoS). The event aimed to provide students with a meaningful understanding of research publishing and presentation, applying for funds and all other research fields.

The workshop was jointly organised by ORIC and the Department of Chemistry. UoS. Department of Physics Chairperson Dr Nawaz Tahir was chief guest on the occasion, while a number of MPhil and PhD students participated in the workshop.

While speaking to participants, ORIC Director Dr Farooq Anwar stressed the need to give plenty of time to write a scientific review. He said research should be compiled in a way so that society could get benefit from it.

Department of Physics Chairperson Dr Nawaz Tahir said “In current times, higher education has attained a central role in the process of progress and prosperity.” He added that since research is the essence of higher education, UoS gives it prime importance and has successfully developed a research culture at its campus.”

UoS Academics Director Dr Abdul Rauf Raza delivered a speech on ‘Research Funds and Project Writing’. He briefed the students about specific research fields for which the government and other scholarship awarding agencies were providing funds.

He guided them over selecting a research field, exploring research funds and projects and writing award-winning research proposals.
