LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujat Hussain has expressed concern over the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) secretary’s statement that international forces want to sabotage the general elections and he was ready to give in camera briefing about these dangers.

ECP okays massive bureaucratic reshuffle in provinces

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the PML-Q leader said the ECP secretary had revealed this during a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on Interior. He said the truth should be revealed before the people of Pakistan that which international forces were involved in this conspiracy. “The caretaker government should take immediate notice of this conspiracy. The chief justice of Pakistan should also take notice.”

He said: “I apprehend that an attempt is made to sabotage the reputation of Pakistan Army by involving it in the electoral process. The ECP has already said ballot papers will be printed under the supervision of Pakistan Army. It seems that we did not learn from the past mistake.”

ECP unable to check if candidates have terror ties

Hussain said the same forces have already made inroads in different political parties. “It is not happening for the first time in Pakistan. A similar conspiracy was hatched in 2008 when US senators Joe Biden, John Kerry and Chuck Hagel called on Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in Lahore and categorically said if the PML-Q won the elections, the US would not accept results,” he claimed, adding that he has the details in his book that proves external forces have been involved in Pakistani politics earlier.
