President set to leave for Tajikistan on four-day visit

Hussain will lead Pakistani delegation at international conference on water for sustainable development

ISLAMABAD: President Manoon Hussain is scheduled to arrive in Dushanbe, Tajikistan today (Monday) on a four-day official visit.

Hussain is visiting Tajikistan on the invitation of President Emomali Rahmon. Over his four-day visit, Hussain will lead the Pakistani delegation at an international conference on water for sustainable development. The conference will be held in Dushanbe on June 20.

The Tajikistan government is organising the conference in collaboration with the United Nations (UN). The first in a series of bi-annual conferences, the Tajikistan government is organising the events to facilitate the Implementation of the New Decade for Water for Sustainable Development.

“The president’s official visit to Tajikistan is reflective of the Pakistan’s vision to strengthen relations with regional countries and increase regional connectivity,” a statement said.

Separately, Pakistan Ambassador to Tajikistan Tariq Iqbal Soomro told APP that the president will review bilateral relations with his Tajik counterpart to further strengthen already strong ties.
