Eid celebrated in most parts of K-P on June 15

PESHAWAR: Eidul Fitr was celebrated across the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), with the exception of Abbottabad and Haripur districts and parts of Manshera and Malakand division on Friday.

Late on Thursday evening, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai had announced that Eid will be observed on Friday after he claimed to have received around 47 testimonies of the moon being cited. Around 14 of these were accepted.

While people in most parts of K-P — including large parts of Peshawar — followed Mufti Popalzai’s announcement to celebrate Eid on Friday people in parts of Manshera, entire Abbottabad and Haripur districts will be observing Eid on Saturday with the rest of the country. Similarly, Swat and Malakand district would also observe eid on Saturday with the federal government.
