Honour: Woman, daughter’s heads shaved over ‘disgrace’

Daughter says her employer's uncles locked them in a room for over five days.

FAISALABAD:

A woman and her daughter were tortured and publicly humiliated for working for their family’s rivals.  Tandalanwala residents Alam Bibi and her daughter Naheed were working in the Chak 675LP village to earn a living and were recently tortured by their relatives, who shaved their heads and beat them with sticks.

According to police officials Alam Bibi and Naheed were working as house maids at the residence of a local landlord, who had previously fought a case against their distant relatives.

Naheed said that her employer and her second cousins had recently had a dispute over property. As a consequence, Naheed’s uncles Azhar and Muzamal kidnapped them and kept them locked in a room for over five days without proper food. The women were beaten and their heads were shaved.

Police received a tip off regarding the incident and raided the location and rescued the two women.
