2,174 cops to be deployed in Rahim Yar Khan

Strict monitoring will be carried out at railway stations and bus stands

RAHIM YAR KHAN: As part of foolproof security arrangements, at least 2,174 policemen will be deployed at 503 Eidgahs and mosques across the district on Eidul Fitr.

In addition to this, police personnel will also be on duty at six check posts, 12 parks and 13 markets.

A police official told Express News that all five circle officers will supervise their respective areas, while SP investigation and DPO will also overlook the arrangements.

The official maintained that in view of the law and order situation, a security plan had been devised on Eidul Fitr to avert any untoward incident. For this purpose, 28 police stations in the district have been divided into 28 sectors. All the DSPs of the five circles will monitor their respective regions.

Sources said that four gatherings had been placed in ‘A’ category, nine in ‘B’ category and 490 gatherings had been declared ‘C’ category.

The officials pointed out that the protecting the lives and property of citizens was the police’s top priority.

As part of the plan, strict monitoring will be carried out at railway stations, bus stands and other spots, while people coming and exiting will also be checked. The quick response force, elite force and the infantry from every police station has been ordered to patrol their respective areas.

When contacted, the security branch in charge said the police was also providing security to seven Chinese camps in the vicinity of Rahim Yar Khan.
