BRUSSELS:

Caroline Wozniacki registered a battling win against the in-form Shuai Peng to clinch the Brussels Open 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

World number 31 Peng made an ideal start, breaking in the opening game of the match. Her joy was short-lived though as the Dane restored parity.  However, Wozniacki did not have everything her way as Peng broke for a second time to lead 3-2. The Dane’s serve was completely devoid of rhythm as she hit five double-faults in the opening set.

Peng created seven more break points in the second set, but could not capitalise on them as the top seed punished her by taking the set comfortably. The Chinese then moved to 3-3 in the decider, before finally running out of steam as Wozniacki won the title in style.
