Political parties urged to present economic agenda
FPCCI wants roadmap ahead of elections
KARACHI:
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has asked all political parties to present their economic agendas and roadmap of priorities ahead of the elections scheduled to be held in the last week of July.
According to an FPCCI official, no party has properly outlined its economic agenda despite looming elections. This shows the lack of foresight present in all parties regarding economic development of the country.
‘Karachi is ahead of the rest of Sindh in economic development’
“Although a few days remain till the upcoming elections, no political party has truly outlined its economic agenda,” said FPCCI Senior Vice President and FPCCI’s Budget Advisory Council Chairman Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir.
“The challenges for the next elected government will be tougher than the outgoing one.”

He said that the country needs several economic reforms in areas of balance of payments, fiscal and debt sustainability, management of public sector entities, reforms of transparency, accountability, ease of doing business etc.

He added that this would also provide an opportunity for FPCCI members to discuss matters of mutual interest particularly related to facilitation of trade and industry with the view to enhance investment, increase production, boost exports, and curtail imports.
