LAHORE: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Central Zone launched a special road safety campaign and distributed Iftar boxes among motorists during the last ten days of Ramazan. During this campaign, Iftar boxes and special road safety pamphlets and brochure booklets were distributed among commuters and motorists travelling on motorways and highways.  During the month of Ramazan, people often lose their temper while fasting, stated DIG Central Zone Arsalan Malik. Therefore it is the officer’s responsibility not to misbehave with motorists, he stressed. Similarly, the chances of road accidents increase during Iftar. To ensure the safety of motorists, special speed checking squads have been deployed on the roads, he added. Malik also urged officers to take great care when dealing with motorists in distress. Providing help, counselling and guidance to people is the defining quality of NHMP: we must continue to sustain this credibility, he added.
