The incident took place at the back of the police station. After being informed of the incident, nearby police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. No loss of life was reported in the incident; only one woman fainted, revealed rescue workers. A witness stated that he was busy working when he heard a loud boom around noon, which sounded similar to the noise during a bomb blast. When he looked in the direction of the noise, there were clouds of dust rising in the air.
The incident created a state of panic in the area as residents thought the police station was under attack.
During investigations, police did not find evidence of a cylinder or other explosive material that could have caused the incident. They said that the ‘blast’ was the result of the wall of a warehouse located adjacent to the police station collapsing. Police are investigating the matter further.
