During the day-long activity, teams imposed fines worth Rs0.44 million on 45 food business operators. The purpose of the crackdown was to ensure PFA rules and regulations are being implemented, while also inspecting the quality of food being sold in markets.
Punjab Food Authority moves to regulate food packaging
Food safety teams inspected thousands of food processing and production facilities, sweet shops, dairy units, chicken distributors and catering companies across Punjab. PFA teams also tested milk, spices and other essential commodities.
Field teams were monitored by their respective operations director and operations deputy director.
Out of the 11 businesses that were sealed, two were located in the provincial capital. In separate raids, teams sealed a water filtration plant by AM Enterprises in Shahdarah for using PFA’s seal without prior permission from the authority.
