Jemima to sue Reham if her ‘libellous’ book is published in UK

Notice to be served over defamation and breach of privacy on behalf of her son

Days after Imran Khan’s ex-wife Reham Khan was served a legal notice by several notables including cricket legend Wasim Akram, Imran’s first wife Jemima Goldsmith also warned on Wednesday that she would sue Reham over the contents of her upcoming book.

She, in a tweet, said that she will send a defamation notice to the PTI chief’s second wife if her ‘libellous’ book gets published in the United Kingdom. Jemima said Reham will be sued for defamation and breach of privacy on behalf of her son in connection with alleged ‘moronic, re-hashed Zionist conspiracy theories’.

The journalist’s tell-all autobiography reportedly includes details of her interactions with various celebrities and her marriage with Imran. Some of those details crossed a line for businessman Zulfikar Bukhari, Reham’s first husband Ijaz Rehman, cricketer Wasim Akram, and PTI International Media Coordinator Anila Khawaja.



The notice issued on May 30 said that each of them received copies of the manuscript for her book from an anonymous source. The book contains “a litany of malicious, false, incorrect, highly misleading, callous, wanton, tortious, prejudicial, damaging, libellous, and defamatory imputations” directed towards the filers.

On Tuesday, Reham’s lawyer said that her client’s upcoming autobiography is not intended at influencing the forthcoming general elections “as being alleged by the PTI.”



“The book, as far as I know is going to be published either in July or even August,” Yasser Latif Hamdani told The Express Tribune in an exclusive interview. “It is a closely guarded secret.” He added that “I haven’t talked to my client about the dates as such.”

Hamdani went on to say that the notion that the book is intended at influencing the elections is “entirely manufactured by the PTI [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf] camp.”



On the question of defamation notice sent to Reham by her first husband, a cricket legend, a British businessman, and a PTI official over the contents of her upcoming book, Hamdani said “at the moment, we have no knowledge of any such letter or legal notice being served on her.”
