ISLAMABAD: Unidentified gunmen killed an officer of a security firm and injured another staffer.

Police said three masked men entered the office of ZIMS Security in Blue Area at around 2:30am and shot Saleem, who worked at the company as an administration officer.

A security guard of the company told The Express Tribune that the armed men reportedly tried to take cash but they faced resistance.

However, police said no cash or other valuables were looted and it seemed the gunmen’s only motive was to kill 60-year old Saleem. He received a bullet to his abdomen and died on the spot. The assailants injured another staffer, Nazeer, with a steel rod.

Saleem’s body was handed over to his family after medico-legal formalities. It was taken to his hometown near Pind Dadan Khan in Jhelum for burial.
