Police devise foolproof security plan

Police officials confirm that 12 mourning processions and10 majalis would be organised in Multan district

MULTAN: Police finalised a plan to provide security cover to 12 mourning processions and 10 majalis across the district on Youm-e-Ali, the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) being observed on 21 Ramazan (Wednesday).  The police officials said that 12 mourning processions and 10 majalis would be organised in the district. Of them, two mourning processions and three majalis had been declared in category A, while others had been placed in category B. At least 1,713 police officials, including four SPs, 14 DSPs, 22 inspectors, 286 sub-inspectors, 1,342 constables and 45 women police constables would be deployed on security duty.  Volunteers and other law enforcement departments would also be deployed at entry and exit points of the mourning processions and majalis, the police officials added.  City Police Officer (CPO) Sarfraz Ahmed Falki directed the officers to keep vigil on suspicious persons and activities.  Meanwhile, elite force vehicles would continue patrolling in the city while traffic wardens would also be deployed for smooth flow of traffic. The main mourning procession would start from Muhallah Nasirabad and will conclude at Astana Lal Shah.
