‘Visitors up by 300%’

Authorities spent a handsome amount of money in order to restore the Hiran Minar

LAHORE: There has been a 300% per annum increase in the number of visitors after renovating and upgrading facilities at Hiran Minar at Sheikhupura, said Punjab Archaeology Department Spokesperson Maqsood Malik.

“The structure looks totally different after being renovated; visitors can enjoy all the latest facilities, he added.

Authorities spent a handsome amount of money in order to restore the minar. Since it is close to the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, it has become a stopover for families and motorists, he maintained.



Officials worked tirelessly in order to renovate the monument, where the latest security arrangements have been made, in addition to the provision of parking. Further, visitors can also enjoy boat rides and a light show, while a rose garden has also been added, he revealed.

Hiran Minar is a unique monument, built by the Mugha Emperor Jahangir to show his love and admiration for a black deer named Hans Raj. The structure also has a large pond, which is the largest pond surrounded by walls in the region, he said.
