Road crashes leave 17 dead

LAHORE:

As many as 17 people died, whereas 3,094 were injured in 2,360 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

After the accidents, 1,559 people were shifted to hospitals, while 1,535 others with minor injuries were treated at the sites by Rescue Medical Teams.

About 80 per cent of the road accidents involved motorbikes. Official data showed that 1,484 adult and 150 underage drivers, 258 pedestrians, and 1369 passengers were among the victims.

The statistics showed that 346 RTCs were reported in Lahore, which affected 495 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by 137 in Faisalabad with 169 victims and 132 in Multan with 162 victims.
