ISLAMABAD: Every year during the holy month of Ramazan, there is a surge in the number of beggars and alms-seekers.

Many of these, though, are seasonal beggars moving in groups comprising women, children and old men.

Over the years, alms seekers have also employed numerous ploys including presenting forged medical documents, faking physical disability and going as far as claiming to be gravely ill to substantiate their claim for money.
