Oil, gas search: K-P opens six dormant blocks for exploration
KPK is currently producing 50% of crude oil, 15% of natural gas and 25% of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day

In a major move, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has opened six blocks, which has been dormant for the past 10 years, for oil and gas exploration.
These blocks include Marwat, Kohat, Goragulto, Wali, Latamber and Paharpur. Out of 28 blocks, 27 are now active in the hydrocarbon-rich province of the country.
OGDCL makes second discovery of oil, gas in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
In a statement issued by K-P Oil and Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL), the province is producing 50% of crude oil, 15% of natural gas and 25% of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day out of the total output of the country.
Crude oil production, which was 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2013, reached 53,000 bpd in 2017.

According to KPOGCL, its joint venture has also discovered 30 million cubic feet of natural gas and 700 bpd of oil recently in the Baratai block, which will help meet energy requirement of the country and save foreign exchange in oil imports.
