Information Secretary Muhammad Tayyab Khan Lehri, Regional Police Officer Quetta DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema, DGPR Shahzada Farhat, Quetta Deputy Commissioner Farukkh Shahzad, Quetta Press Club President Razaur Rehman, Balochistan Union of Journalists President Khalil Ahmad and General Secretary Mohammad Ayub Tareen were in attendance.
Participants reviewed different points regarding the media policy.
“Media’s role for development of society was extremely inevitable,” the speakers said.
DIG Cheema said, “Safety of media representatives is our prime responsibility.”

No doubt media in Pakistan exhibits excellent reporting and professional capabilities, but still there is a need to train media-persons in order for them to deal with chancy situations, specifically in Balochistan.”
He said that the media should also understand its responsibility and urged not to broadcast any news without official authorisation.
Media representatives present on the occasion also expressed their views.
They said, “Keeping in view Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and Department of Information’s rules and regulations in mind, it is necessary to implement the policy set-up for broadcasting news on sensitive issues.”
