PU, NEU ink agreement

15 Chinese students would be enrolled each year at PU and both varsities

LAHORE: Punjab University and China’s Northeastern University (NEU) have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a joint PhD programme in the subject of history.

In this regard, an agreement signing ceremony was held at vice-chancellor’s office on Friday, a press release issued stated. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla, Registrar Dr Khalid Khan and External Linkages Director Dr Fauzia Hadi Ali were present.

Under the agreement, 15 Chinese students would be enrolled each year at PU and both varsities would establish the project supervisor group, consisting of professors of relevant disciplines.

PU will be responsible for the enrollment and training programme for Chinese students and NEU would assist in its implementation. The Chinese students would undergo first year’s study at PU under the direction of supervisors.
