How did you get started in your career?
Our design journey began with a modest desire to redecorate our home and curate a space that embodied our personalities. Failing to locally find the kind of design prowess that we sought in home accessories, we decided to venture out on our own and explore the skill of local artisans. That simple journey resulted in the birth of Creo.
What and/or who are some of your design inspirations?
Inspiration is everywhere – in fashion, nature, travel and history, but if we were to name individuals, we greatly admire Kelly Wearstler, Nate Berkus and Jonathan Adler.
What do you like most about your job?
The ability to transform a space and give it a spirit; your surroundings contribute to your creativity, they can energise you, inspire you and calm you. Creating evocative spaces makes this worth it for us.
What is most challenging about your job?
We faced many challenges in setting up Creo but the joy we have experienced on our journey has eclipsed those challenges.
How would you describe your design style? How varied are your designs? Do you have a signature touch with your designs?
Our aesthetic is contemporary with an adventurous flare. That’s our signature. The idea is to merge contemporary influences with functionality, sophistication and a hint of glamour. Within this aesthetic, we are now putting together some immaculate pieces for our second collection.
What are the home decor/design trends for 2018?
There are a number of design trends to follow in 2018 but perhaps two of our favorites are luxe metallic accents in decor and indoor foliage. These trends will take centre stage this year with people incorporating more brass and copper to anchor their home décor and plants to give a calm, peaceful vibe to their space.
Within your own home, what’s your next project?
We are really excited about redoing our formal living area. We are toying with the idea of adding pops of intense hues with lush, bold upholstery and snazzy cushions to go with it.
Describe yourself in three words.
We are two very different individuals but together we are curious, inspired and adventurous.
Is there anything exciting that you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about?
We are working on some standout pieces for our next collection that will allow punctuation of spaces with a luxe aesthetic.
What are your design dreams/goals?
Our design goal is to be able to offer luxurious designs within reach. We want our products to be as accessible to clients as they can be without compromising our aesthetic.
