QUETTA: For the protection of children and prevention of child abuse in Balochistan, Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zindagi Trust Chairman and pop singer Shehzad Roy.

Addressing a news conference in Hanna Orrak Rest House, the Balochistan CM said, “We have signed an MoU with Zindagi Trust to create awareness among our children regarding sexual abuses and have decided to add the topic to our curriculum.”

Insufficient information: Balochistan lacks key data on child abuse

Shehzad Roy welcomed Balochistan CM’s support and said, “We have been working in Sindh since 2006 and creating awareness among children.”

Roy said, “It is not necessary that children are sexually abused outside their homes so we have to educate our children regarding good touch and bad touch.”

The Zindagi Trust has been working in Sindh since 2006 and has contributed in revamping the education sector and providing awareness among children regarding sexual abuses.

Delay in budget

CM Bizenjo said, “Education has been our top priority since we formed the government in Balochistan; therefore, we have allocated a lavish amount for education and health sectors in the upcoming budget.”

The CM said, “Our predecessors didn’t make serious efforts to revamp the dilapidated education sector in Balochistan even though children in 2,000 schools are studying under open sky, while 3,000 schools have been running without drinking water.”

Bizenjo said, “Till December, we have pledged to provide roof and water to 1,092 government schools.”

On delay in tabling the provincial budget, Bizenjo said, “We are not in a hurry to table the cumbersome financial budget as a flawless budget cannot be presented in haste.”

Lambasting former chief minister, Bizenjo said, “Since we came to power in the province, nearly half of our days were spent in courts due to the flawed actions of the previous regimes. Dr Malik Baloch has been criticising us, but what he did during his tenure is badly effecting our performance.

“We postponed announcing the provincial budget for two days due to a computer virus that erased Public Sector Development Programme schemes.”

He said that they would announce such a budget that would be beneficial for the new government, especially the people of Balochistan, for years to come.

Bizenjo said that work on the healthcare programme was in full swing in order to provide free of cost treatment to the people.

He announced building a cardiac and cancer hospital in Balochistan so that the people of Balochistan won’t be compelled to travel to Karachi and other cities for medical treatment.

On youth empowerment, Bizenjo said, “As many talented students have requested to pay their fees, we have decided to introduce a plan where the government will afford the fees of talented students unable to meet their educational expenditures.”
