Victim was playing outside her house when accused Latif abducted her

MIANWALI: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Mianwali, police said on Wednesday.

A police official told Express News that S*, the 10-year-old daughter of Taj Din, was playing outside her house in the area of Moch police station. In the meantime, 60-year-old man identified as Latif, who is a resident of the same area, abducted the girl and took her to his home where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. “When the girl started shouting, the suspect fled the scene,” the official maintained.

Residents called Rescue 1122 who took the child to the hospital. However, authorties are still waiting the girl’s medical reports.

Later, District Police Officer Sadiq Ali Dogar constituted a team headed by a DSP for the arrest of the suspect. The team took immediate action and arrested the suspect from the remits of the Pai Khel police station and shifted him to an undisclosed location. An FIR has been registered against the accused.



Earlier in April, two shopkeepers were arrested for allegedly raping a girl studying in the six grade in Gujrat. The accused persons were identified as Saddam and Tauqeer.

Police said the child had gone to buy clothes from a local market with her sister. Consequently, the shopkeepers forced them to a room where they committed the crime.

When residents heard the girl yelling out for help they reached the scene and informed the authorities.

On February 14, the Ministry of Human Rights told the National Assembly that since 2013 a whopping 17, 862 cases of child abuse have been reported in the country, including girls and boys. The report reads that 10,620 of those reported cases were girls whereas the victims in the rest of 7,242 cases were boys.

The number of cases against girls ranges between 2,000 as it is 2,410 in 2016 and 1,974 in 2015. The trend in the number of reported cases of boys has witnessed abrupt increase as it was 985 in 2013 and soared to 1,367 in 2014, and reached 1,794 in 2015.
