Environment: Lesco issued NOC in public hearing

They emphasised the importance of public hearing and the role of Environmental Protection Agency.

LAHORE: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab on Tuesday held a public hearing to issue no-objection certificate to the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) for execution of secondary transmission and grid station (STG) projects.

The projects will be implemented with a loan acquired from the Asian Development Bank for the purpose.

The meeting was chaired by the Environmental Protection Agency director and the Lesco general manager (Technical). They emphasised the importance of public hearing and the role of Environmental Protection Agency  in reducing environmental pollution.

An overview of the Environmental Impact Assessment study of the project was also presented. STG projects including 132KV new grid stations will be constructed at the Press Club Housing Society, Harbanspura; DHA Rehbar, Defence Road; Central Park, Ferozepur Road; and Jubilee Town, Canal Road.
