SBP asked to seal accounts of 22 schools

Private school regulator warns of cancelling registrations

PESHAWAR: The provincial private school regulator has asked the central bank to seal the accounts 22 private schools who have refused to implement the law and the judgment of the high court.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Private School Regularity Authority (K-PPSRA) on Monday wrote to the State Bank of Pakistan against some private schools in the province.



According to the letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on August 11, 2017, had directed to seal or freeze the accounts of private schools who were reluctant to act upon the directions of the court or to implement the K-PPSRA Regulations 2018.



In this regard, the K-PPRSA asked that accounts of 22 schools, including Forward Model School System, Roots Millennium School System, The City School System, The Smart School System, Peshawar Model School System, Qadims Lumiere School, Allied School System, Beaconhouse School System, ILM School System, Iqra Rauzatul Atfal School System, Warsak Model School, Quaid-e-Azam Public School System, St Francis School, Frontier Children’s Academy, The Lahore Lyceum School, Pak Turk International School and College, Sir Syed Public School System, Bloomfield Hall School, The Racines School System  and the Educator School System.



The K-PPSRA urged the Sate Bank to direct all scheduled banks to seal or freeze the accounts of these schools in line with orders of the PHC.

K-PPRSA Managing Director Syed Zafar Ali Shah confirmed to The Express Tribune the letter and said that they were still investigating private schools in other districts of the province.
