Police refuse to register FIR for stolen bike

Officials claim they are investigating the case

ISLAMABAD: An employee of the federal government, whose motorbike had been stolen almost a week ago, has appealed to top police for help in registering a case for his missing two-wheeler.

Asif Mehmood told The Express Tribune that his motorbike (registration number: VR-878) had been stolen from the garage of the plaza he lived in, near the Islamabad High Court in Sector G-10/1.



He said that as soon as he found that his bike was missing, he immediately reported the theft to the police by dialing the 15 helpline. However, it took him a little longer to lodge a written complaint with the Ramna police, doing so the next day.



But the police. He claimed, have yet to register a case.

Mehmood says he also obtained the CCTV footage from the nearby shop and provided a copy of the video to the police, but officials still took no action.

“It was around 8:45pm when an unidentified man stole the bike. I reported the incident to police on 15 and officials also visited the scene but still, police have not registered a case,” said Mehmood, who urged to police high-ups to help him in getting a case registered.



ASI Imtiaz Ahmed of the Ramna police, though, said that he was trying to get to the suspects nominated in the case but before registering an FIR.

Acknowledging that they have yet to register a case based on Mehmood’s complaint, ASI Ahmed insisted that they were investigating the incident.
