Express May 28, 2010

KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers have maintained that their only job was to provide the police back-up and ensure peace and security in the city.

This was their response filed to the Sindh High Court that took up a petition on the bomb blast on 10th Muharram, Ashura.

Major Shahjahan from the office of the Director-General, Rangers appeared before a division bench of Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Yasmin Abbassey.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by a member of a welfare organisation, Iqbal Kazmi, who lay the responsibility at the door of government and law-enforcing agencies. Scores of people were killed in the attack.
