LAHORE: Farmers were actually provided facilities during Pakistan Muslim League’s tenure; current rulers are pretending to work for the sake of agricultural development, said PML senior leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Thursday.

He made these remarks while speaking to a delegation of senior PML leaders and office bearers headed by Malik Shakeel Sikander. Punjab Chief Organiser Muhammad Basharat Raja was also present on the occasion.

During our tenure, farmers were prosperous. Their crops were procured on fixed rates, while they were provided with subsidies on electricity, seeds, fertilizers, machinery and water. They were also given protection from criminals for which we had set up checkposts in far flung areas, he expressed.

Further, Elahi used the opportunity to make Sikander the district president of the party, in the place of former Provincial Minister Aamir Sultan Cheema.
