Penalty: Murder convict awarded death sentence

Judge Saeedullah Mughal also directed the convict, Adeel, to pay Rs0.2 million fine to the family of the deceased.

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Monday awarded death sentence to a murder convict. Judge Saeedullah Mughal also directed the convict, Adeel, to pay Rs0.2 million fine to the family of the deceased.

Adeel was arrested for killing Mohsin Abbas in 2009. Meanwhile, additional district and sessions judge Yousaf Aujla on Monday awarded a three-year jail term to Munir Hussain on charges of murder and house robbery. Hussain was arrested for Allah Rakha’s murder in 2009 while resisting a robbery, but was later pardoned by the deceased’s family after entering into a compromise deed. Hussain has also been fined Rs10,000 along with the imprisonment, which would be extended by three months in case of non-payment.
