SC allocation increases by 8pc to Rs1.964bn

ISLAMABAD: The federal budget for 2018-19 has proposed to set aside Rs1.964 billion for the Supreme Court in the non-development budget, amounting to an eight per cent increase.

Last year, the apex court’s funding was enhanced six per cent

The government’s had set aside Rs1.817 billion for the Supreme Court in 2017-2018 in the previous fiscal year’s revised estimates.

Supreme Court’s budget, the federal government maintained, increased the apex court’s budget above the inflation rate.

A break-up of the allocation shows: employees-related expenses Rs1.486 billion, Rs484.875 million for salaries, Rs344.873 million for officers’ pay, Rs140.002 million for the pay of other staff, Rs1,001.235 million for allowances, Rs637.585 million for regular allowances, Rs363.65 million for other allowances, excluding transport, Rs341.39 million for operating expenses, Rs50 million for employees retirement benefits, Rs2.1 million for transfers, Rs45.1 million for physical assets, and Rs32.3 million for repairs and maintenance.

Similarly, the government allocated Rs527 million in the non-development budget for the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the new budget against the outgoing fiscal year’s revised estimate of Rs486.602 million.



Another Rs387 million were set aside for the Islamabad district judiciary in the non-development budget against outgoing fiscal year’s revised estimate of Rs362.854 million

Similarly, the government also allocated Rs722 million for the Federal Ombudsman’s Secretariat against the outgoing fiscal year’s revised estimate of RsRs670.127million.

The government allocated 243 million for the Federal Tax Ombudsman against the outgoing fiscal year’s revised estimate of Rs260 million.
