Man sets wife on fire

KOT ADDU: A man set his wife on fire after she refused to give him money in Kot Addu on Thursday. Police said Zareena was married to Nawaz Bhatti and was the mother of three children. Nawaz is allegedly an alcoholic and used to ask his wife for money to feed his addiction. On the day of the incident, the accused asked Zareena to give him the money she received from Benazir Income Support Programme. On her refusal, a heated argument took place between the two. In a fit of rage, Nawaz doused Zareena with petrol and set her on fire. As a result, she suffered critical burn injuries and was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for treatment. Nawaz fled the scene with Rs50,000 and his wife’s jewellery. Sananwan police have registered a case and investigations are underway.
