904 traffic accidents reported across Punjab

Six people killed in road mishaps

LAHORE: At least 904 road traffic crashes (RTCs) were reported by the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) across the province during the past 24 hours in which seven people were killed and 608 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals.

As many as 412 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by emergency medical teams.

According to the data, 431 drivers including 21 underage drivers, 121 pedestrians and 475 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 212 RTCs were reported by the Lahore Control Room, in which 225 people were affected, placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 86 accidents in Faisalabad with 99 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 72 RTCs and 73 victims.

A total of 1,027 victims were affected in road traffic crashes including 800 males and 227 females, while the age group of the victims showed that 183 were under 18 year of age, 586 were between 18 and 40 years and the rest of the 258 victims were above 40 years of age.
