Police launch crackdown on brothels in several parts of the city

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have withdrawn security from dozens of politicians, bureaucrats, former inspectors general of police, and civil judges following the Supreme Court directives.

The apex court, earlier this week, directed the police departments across the country to withdraw police personnel deployed with all those individuals not entitled to official security.

The top court also directed all the IGPs to submit a compliance report by April 23.

The curious case of Karachi’s police

Following the court directives, Islamabad Police on Saturday announced that it had withdrawn security from all those individuals not entitled to official security.

A statement issued by the capital police said a total of 246 policemen who were deployed with several dozen individuals have reported back to their respective police stations on the orders of the IGP Sultan Azam Temuri.

When speaking about previous deployments, a police official informed that 50 of its officials were deployed with several politicians, 86 with civil judges, 33 with former IGPs, 21 with the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration officers, and three with foreigners. Moreover, another 53 police personnel were deputed with bureaucrats, media and other individuals with clout.

Meanwhile, the capital police have launched a crackdown operation against brothels and arrested 78 people during the last 24 hours form different parts of the city.

The action has been launched on the directions of IGP Islamabad Dr Sultan Azam Temuri. According to the police, in a crackdown against the menace of prostitution, Shalimar police arrested one female and two male suspects from their jurisdiction.

A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is underway.

Lohi Bher police, in a raid against brothel, arrested one male and three female suspects and booked them under section 371A/B of the PPC. Sabzi Mandi police, in their second crackdown operation in two days along with female police, arrested three women and a man from a brothel in sector I-10/2 after getting legal permission.

All the suspects were transferred to the police station and booked under section 371-A, 371-B and 496-B of the PPC and further investigation is underway.

Similarly, Kohsar police raided a house being used as a brothel in sector F-6/1 and arrested two Pakistani women and two Chinese nationals namely Sinso Ching and Lim May. Three cans of beer were also recovered from the house.

Furthermore, Shalimar police raided Pak Tower in sector F-10 and arrested five men and two women with liquor.

Kohsar police raided a house being used as a brothel in sector F-7/4 and arrested one male Arslan Khalid, along with one female Shazia. Shalimar police raided Golden Heights in sector F-11 and arrested one male and two females.

Reforming the police

SI Iqbal of Bhara Kahu police station along with his team conducted a raid against brothels and during the raid three men and five women were arrested.

Koral police raided a brothel in Ghori Town and arrested seven females and four males. Ramna Police raided a brothel in Merabadi in sector G-12 and arrested four male and two females.

A case has been registered against the suspects and further investigation is underway. Ramna police raided a brothel in sector G-12 Merabadi and arrested two men and two women for the offence.
